Todd Briggeman | Project Manager, Black & Veatch:
Black & Veatch has a long history with hydroelectric power experience. We’ve produced somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000 megawatts of hydropower across the world.
Todd Jastremski | Asset Manager Hydro Operations, We Energies:
Hydroelectric projects in this country, very much become a part of the community. They’re interwoven into the recreation. The vision for Twin Falls was to have a state-of-the-art facility and we also wanted to ensure that we completed rehabilitation of the retaining structures at the project. The key value that Black & Veatch brought to this project was the deep technical expertise that they have. They were listening to the constructor. Listening to the owner.
Todd Briggeman | Project Manager, Black & Veatch:
The project has been a great success. They’ve got a hydropower facility that is just a two-unit powerhouse verses the five that they had before. The new electronic controls bring those units online faster and respond quicker. The new turbines are a vertical Kaplan turbine. Now they’re able to generate nine megawatts with the same water. The key with this powerhouse and with hydro in general is that it is a very reliable resource. The work you put into it and the hours spent have been really for something good.
Todd Jastremski | Asset Manager Hydro Operations, We Energies:
We did not change the way that we operated the reservoir. All the things that the community has enjoyed, they’ll get to continue to enjoy.
